The Hollyhock Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Wrinch as CEO.

Peter brings a wealth of experience in not-for-profit and social enterprise management, with special expertise in leadership, program development and fundraising.

“I am honoured to be entrusted with the challenges and opportunities to grow Hollyhock’s unique legacy. So many of my peers, and myself, have significantly benefited from Hollyhock’s philosophy and success. I am excited to move this rare and invaluable organization into its next stage of growth. The world needs more of Hollyhock’s special mix of personal resilience, social change and tactical skills. They are the essential ingredients to a safe, just future for all.” – Peter Wrinch, incoming CEO

Peter graduated from McGill University with a Degree in Soviet History and Buddhism and holds a Masters Degree from the University of Toronto in Soviet History. He served for five years as the Executive Director of Pivot Legal Society, Canada’s foremost social justice legal advocacy group, representing disenfranchised and marginalized people. He most recently worked as the Director of Politics and Advocacy at NationBuilder, the world’s leading political software company. During his time at NationBuilder, Peter’s focus was to empower and support 1000s of diverse groups building internal capacity, leadership and fundraising prowess.

Peter has experience running an important not-for-profit in the region, is familiar with individuals and key players within the Hollyhock constituency and is deeply aligned with Hollyhock’s social change mission. He will be based in Hollyhock’s Vancouver office, with substantial time on the iconic Cortes Island campus.

Peter’s hire comes after a multi-year, planned generational transfer of leadership. This transition follows the 18-year tenure of Dana Bass Solomon, who has led Hollyhock (after its first 17-year founding era) to the influential leadership learning institution it is today. Peter starts August 1, 2017 beginning a two-month crossover period with Dana.

Peter has asked Dana to serve in a part-time advisory role, in support of him in this important next era. They first worked together when Dana was a Board member of Pivot Legal Society.

Joel Solomon will continue as Board Chair.

“We are thrilled with the potential Peter Wrinch brings to Hollyhock, our team, esteemed teachers, constituency and mission. We are poised to deepen and expand the highly respected ‘social change meets personal development’ curriculum that Hollyhock has refined over 35 years. Peter has the values and experience required, to build upon Hollyhock’s mission to “inspire, nourish and support people making the world better.” – Joel Solomon, Hollyhock Board Chair
